For years he fought the devil, and the more evil he fought, the more evil showed up, until God said rest, there is nothing to fight except your own unbelief. Evil cannot go where faith goes, because when the devil fell to the earth he fell away from power, not into it. You do not overcome by trying; you are already more than a conqueror, and what overcomes the world is your faith in who He is and what He finished. He is teaching you to think like God so you can act like God without ever straining to be like Him.
