When Peter confessed Jesus as the Christ, Jesus promised the gates of hell would not prevail, and since hell means the place of the dead, He was saying death can no longer hold you. So how do you overcome sin? You do not; you submit to the One who already overcame it, and the old you dies in the presence of the Father. It is exhausting to live consciously trying to overcome sin you no longer have a nature for. Stop being so fixated on getting out of the car, and get excited about getting into the park, the kingdom that is here and now.
