Metanoeo, the Greek word for repent, means change your mind, not confess how bad you are. Jesus wasn't directing people to acknowledge their sin; He was directing their thoughts to acknowledge the basileia, the rule and authority of the Kingdom of God, already at hand. Seek first the kingdom is a command, not a request, and it is the foundation of true repentance. The woman with the issue of blood and the woman caught in adultery didn't change by being told how wrong they were; they were healed and forgiven by having their minds set on who Christ is. Repentance isn't a one time act of sorrow over sin, it's a continual change of mind, from glory to glory, as we set our eyes on His righteousness instead of our own failure.
